Simple Session 2024

The world’s one of the longest-running series of action sports competitions, Simple Session, began at a time when Tartu did not even have its own skatepark. It has grown from a local competition into an event with a cult following in the world of extreme sports, bringing nearly a hundred top cyclists and skateboarders from over 30 countries to Estonia in 2024 – among them, champions from the Paris Olympic Games! Spend an exhilarating weekend with top sports and cultural experiences, and roll on the ramps yourself under the guidance of pros!

The locomotive of Estonian street sports, Simple Session, has always been more than just a competition. Film festivals and concerts complement the extreme sports scene, along with exhibitions, parties, workshops, and enjoyable group rides on city streets. After touring in Estonia and abroad, the festival returns to its hometown of Tartu from August 21st to 25th in 2024. A unique competition scene will emerge in Kammivabrik, designed by Nate Wessel (author of the parks for X Games and other major extreme sports events), incorporating beloved symbols and landmarks of Tartu as ramps and design elements. Over two weeks, amateur athletes will also have the opportunity to roam the park and practice in workshops and training sessions under the guidance of the pros.

The exhilarating atmosphere and pleasant ambience spread throughout the city. Simple Session’s live broadcasts reach millions of viewers worldwide, and there are also plans for a cinema programme dedicated to extreme sports, workshops, exhibitions, and parties featuring the best artists from Southern Estonia.

Tartu has become an inviting destination for both athletes and other culture enthusiasts. As the flagship of Estonian extreme sports, Simple Session has advocated from the beginning for young people’s leisure activities and, among other things, for the opportunities of athletes with special needs, and carries these values into the European Capital of Culture’s program as well. The performances of world-class athletes also inspire future champions!
