Info
Bird Jam is a concert on the big stage of the Barge Hall that brings together local and guest musicians and poets who will perform pieces inspired by birdsong, bird lore or bird-related personal experience.
Bird Jam brings attention to birds and urban wildlife. Historically, the appreciation of nature has gone hand in hand with traditional culture – writers and musicians have drawn much inspiration from birds, their nature and their way of life. Today, bridging the appreciation of nature and its diversity with contemporary art forms, styles, and creative practices is still important.
Bird Jam is a series of shows that brings fresh poetry and music, inspired by the songs of different birds, to small urban stages, aka bird nests in Tartu. The programme will feature Estonian performers, birdies and creators from other countries. The jamming and chirping will culminate in a final concert on the Barge Hall stage on the 8th of June, 2024.
Bird Jam is part of the Creative Nature Festival, organised by the University of Tartu Natural History Museum and Botanical Garden in cooperation with partners across Estonia.
The festival belongs to the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 main programme. Tickets are available on Piletilevi.ee.
