Jacob Collier and Take 6 first performed with a symphony orchestra last September at the Hollywood Bowl, one of the world’s largest open-air concert venues in California. “Initially, Collier did not plan to perform with an orchestra in Tartu, but after discussions, we agreed with the artist that the European Capital of Culture also deserves a unique concert with an orchestra,” said Anne Erm, the concert’s manager and founder of Jazzkaar.

The Tartu 2024 Symphony Orchestra comprises renowned musicians from the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, the Estonian National Opera, and the Vanemuine Theatre. “It is very gratifying that top musicians from Estonia’s most renowned orchestras will be part of this special concert,” said Erm. She is confident that conductor Valter Soosalu will find the right direction and masterfully unite the artists from three countries for the concert.

“Jacob Collier’s engaging energy and the symphony orchestra will create an exciting combination that can captivate listeners of all ages,” said Tartu 2024 leader Kuldar Leis. “The artist is particularly known for his unique concerts worldwide, where he turns the entire audience into a united choir. It is likely that Collier will do the same with the European Capital of Culture audience at Tartu Song Festival Grounds.”

British composer Jacob Collier and the world-renowned vocal ensemble Take 6 are united by their excellent sense of harmony and musicality. Together, they have released 18 studio albums and won 14 Grammy Awards. Collier has named the ensemble his favourite group.

Estonian artist NOËP will open for Jacob Collier. The concert is part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 programme. Tickets are available at Piletikeskus and Piletilevi, and on-site before the concert begins.
