TARTU 2024 INVITES: Marta Djourina’s installation “Ashes of Ice” opening in the Ice Age Center
Opening of the monumental installation of Marta Djourina, a Bulgarian artist residing in Berlin, takes place on Saturday, August 26, at 17:00 at the Ice Age Center, Äksi.

The opening of the installation “Ashes of Ice” is part of the “Look into my Ice” project, which includes exhibitions, performances and workshops. “Look into my Ice” is a part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 programme.
Marta Djourina’s installation was selected through an international open call. The installation focuses on polar and glacial ice loss. Djourina’s pioneering experimental practice in the field of photography and her sensitivity to capturing the fleeting lifespan of living things come together impressively in a three-part installation. The artwork connects all three European Capital of Culture cities in 2024.
Tartu with Southern Estonia is the European Capital of Culture in 2024. The title year is shared with Bad Ischl in Austria with the Salzkammergut region and Bodø in Norway with Nordland County.
