Tartu 2024 Extended’s Friday bingo series concludes with villemdrillem
As part of the "Augusti Reedel" (August Friday) series, the Tartu 2024 Extended youth team is organizing bingo events in Tartu.
The activities are taking place within the framework of the “Tartu Sumin” (Tartu Buzz) Old Town festival; the program, spanning three consecutive Fridays, offers events in both the summer urban space and a club setting.
The event is organized by 17-year-old Oliver Mäesalu. The aspiring organizer felt that young people in Tartu could benefit from more social interaction. “The idea started with wanting to create pop-up events in Tartu where young people could meet and socialize. It eventually evolved into a collaboration with ‘Sumin’ and the ‘Gümnade pidu’ (High School Party). Now we can reconnect before school starts,” Mäesalu says confidently.

– August 7, 18:00–20:00 – Bingo on the St. John’s Church (Jaani kirik) lawn as part of the “Tartu Sumin” Old Town festival. DJs Fl1ck and Dtrmn. Prizes for participants.
– August 14, 15:00–18:00 – Bingo & DJs on the St. John’s Church lawn as part of the “Tartu Sumin” Old Town festival. Discussion on “First Intercourse and Safe Sex” in collaboration with the Estonian Medical Students’ Association. Prizes for participants.
– August 21, 22:00–02:00 – “Gümnade pidu” x villemdrillem at the Atlantis Creative Hub (Atlantise Loomevald). DJs Zirp and jakey on stage. Face painting workshop hosted by youth from Liepāja.
The event series is alcohol- and substance-free. The events are organized by Oliver Mäesalu, Anna Mengel, Marta Aab, and Uku Maaskimets. The activities are led by the Tartu 2024 Extended youth team and are part of the Youth Connect program. The first part of the youth summer program took place in Liepāja.
The Youth Connect program is supported by the Interreg VI-A Estonia-Latvia Programme 2021–2027, which aims to develop young people’s skills and strengthen cross-border cooperation between Estonia and Latvia.
Tartu 2024 Extended is the youth program of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024; it will continue beyond the title year, sustained by the Tartu 2024 legacy and ongoing support.
