In Rõuge Parish, they know how to appreciate a good hearty meal, local ingredients, and home-grown food. Adding to this formula the picturesque hilly landscape of Southern Estonia and five regions with unique food and traditions, we get a pleasantly winding food trail that leads straight to the best bites of the area!

Time to eat! On the two-day winding food trail (a speciality of Rõuge Parish!), the residents of five distinct places – Paganamaa, Haanimaa, Missomaa, Rõuge, and Mehkamaa – treat guests from near and far. Culinary experiences are also offered by Rõuge’s good neighbours from the Veclaicene region in Latvia, with local small producers joining in.

On July 27-28, 2024, one can get acquainted with the stories, customs, and flavours of nearly 20 different people and their home regions. The best offerings from local gardens, forests, and farms will make it to the table.

Local food producers and active people boost small businesses and tourism in Võrumaa. During the event, which involves the whole parish, the food and traditions of different areas of Rõuge are introduced, and in collaboration with the neighbouring parish in Latvia, international cooperation is also enlivened.
