Project „CycleUp!” Seeks a Chief Curatorial Adviser And Members for the Board
The Goethe-Institut Prague is looking for a Chief Curatorial Adviser and five members for the Curatorial Advisory Board of the Creative Europe Project “CycleUp!” starting from 01.06.2023 until 28.02.2027.
CycleUp! is an EU project funded by special funds (Creative Europe) at the interface of art, culture, and sustainability. The project aims at mobilising artists and the general public around these issues through residencies, artistic interventions in public spaces and community activities. Project activities will take place in Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Estonia (Tartu), among other countries.

What to expect?
The Chief Curatorial Adviser will play a pivotal role in developing the overall artistic vision of the project and oversee all artistic and cultural aspects of it. They will work closely with the Curatorial Advisory Board to develop an artistic, sustainability, and inclusion framework that aligns with the project’s goals and values. Additionally, they will oversee the selection process for artists and artworks to be featured in residencies, artistic interventions, exhibitions, and events. The Curatorial Team will advise the CycleUp! steering committee for the duration of the project. The Chief Curatorial Adviser will act as the main spokesperson of the Curatorial Team.
The position will be paid an honorarium and all travel expenses will be covered.
Scope of activities: approximately three hours per month.

What to expect?
Members of the Curatorial Advisory Board will help to oversee all artistic and cultural aspects of the project. They will work closely with the Chief Curatorial Adviser to develop an artistic, sustainability, and inclusion framework that aligns with the project’s goals and values. Additionally, they will support the selection process of artists and artworks to be featured in residencies, artistic interventions, exhibitions, and events. The Curatorial Team will advise the CycleUp! steering group for the duration of the project.
The Curatorial Team will consist of a group of leaders in their respective fields who are dedicated to supporting sustainable residency programs and carbon-neutral art production. This is a unique chance to work on an exciting and environmentally sustainable project aimed at promoting green mobility and cycling in the project’s partner cities and other EU countries. Being part of an international project like CycleUp! provides a chance to work together with various artists, decision-makers, and communities, and offers valuable networking prospects.

Considerations for both positions
The Goethe-Institut Prague is looking for a motivated and experienced curator or art practitioner, preferably with a focus on contemporary art. Fluency in spoken and written English is required, and knowledge of other languages would be considered an advantage. The candidate must be a resident of one of the partner countries (Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and Estonia).
