Otepää parish | Maajaam

  • Exhibition/museum
  • Main programme

Info

"Wild Sounds" will bring additional sound installations and performative interventions to Maajaam on the last weekend of the technological exhibition, 14th-15th of September, to provide a fitting finale to the wild exhibition.

While the exhibition “Wild Bits” can still be explored for its final days across the landscape, special guests will provide an additional layer to the experience:
Klemens Kohlweis & Andreas Zißler, from the artist trio “Solar Beings,” will perform live on parabolic speakers. Ekke Västrik will record and study the soundscapes of Maajaam, searching for them on bodies of water and wetlands. Aivar Tõnso will expand the surrounding environment with his spatial sound installation and Raul Keller will deliver a live sound performance. Tõnis Koppel, in addition to performing his original works on the double bass, will also play a piece by composer Liisa Hirsch, which revolves in both sound and space, as it takes place on the spinning grass disc “Lawn Centrifuge” created by Julijonas Urbonas. The archaeological audio drama by Jan Teevet, Henri Hütt & Algorütmid invites visitors to explore the landscape with a metal detector. Ieva Matveja will perform a live piece using environmental sounds recorded at Maajaam
Admission to the event is included with the exhibition ticket. Tickets are available on Piletilevi.
The sound event “Wild Sounds” is supported by the Estonian Cultural Endowment. The exhibition “Wild Bits” is part of the main program of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024.
