Viljandi Organ Festival is part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 additional programme.
Located in southwestern Germany, Swabia is a region with a rich musical heritage. We will hear a cross-section of the collections that laid the foundation for organ music in the 15th-19th centuries, pieces from fantasies to dances. The organist’s improvisations on the theme “Taagepera” make the concert extraordinary, the parts of the improvisations are named March with rhythms, Paintings with notes, Giaconna and Fugue.
