Azadeh Maghsoodi – violin, Andis Paegle – electric piano „Fender Rhodes“ (Germany) In the programme: J.S.Bach, Piazzolla, persian melodies, latvian folk songs etc
Viljandi Organ Festival is part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 additional programme.
This concert has exciting performers, programme and instruments. Here, the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and music from the performers’ homelands are mixed into one whole – Azadeh, who is of Iranian origin, brings Persian melodies and Andis Latvian folk tunes. A passionate violin tells us stories of the bright moon in the dark Persian night sky. The electronic sounds that accompany him take us to outer space and the surface of the moon. It is a non-stop journey of sounds through the musical universe.
The Fender Rhodes is an electric piano developed by Harold Rhodes to aid in the treatment of soldiers injured in World War II through piano lessons. The instrument became widely popular in the 1970s and was especially loved for playing jazz, soul and pop music.
