Info
Tõnu Naissoo concert at the Emajõe-Suursoo Centre in Luunja Parish links together the tradition of Estonian piano music and jazz music in an interesting way. The subtle sense of Naissoo music and his well-known elegant style of play create for one evening an exciting and touching symbiosis of nature and pastel piano sounds on the edge of the world.
The first major performance of Tõnu Naissoo in public took place at the age of 16 at the international jazz festival “Tallinn 1967”. The following year he recorded his first LP – “The Naissoo Trio.” Since the 1970s, solo concerts have been performed and given in many republics of the Soviet Union, Europe, Cuba, USA, Canada and Japan. He was the first Estonian foreign student to receive a scholarship to the prestigious Berklee College in the USA in 1989.
He was one of the soloists for the premieres of the 1st Symphony of contemporary classical music composer Alfred Schnittke in the USA with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and in the Netherlands with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has released more than 30 solo records, half of them in Japan.
In addition to his ensembles, he has written music for theatre, TV productions and 50 films – among them, with his father Uno Naissoo, for the Estonian cult film “The Last Relic”.
