Info

The Unstruck Sound is a science fiction exploration of the future of the Tartu region in 2074.

What will life in Tartu look like in 50 years? Will it be the breeding ground for a budding utopia or rather a grim dystopia? How would we deal with a climate crisis, food shortage, or divided communities?

In the beginning of 2024, the artist group Blast Theory invited young Estonians to interview the older generation to find out what life was like in 1974 – exactly half a century ago – and how, in their opinion, society would function 50 years from today. From analysing the responses and consulting with futurologists, a script emerged for a short film that creatively ponders about what the arts of survival might look like for the people of the future.

The science fiction film has been filmed in Southern Estonia in collaboration with the Estonian film production company Lanzadera Films.
