Info
The connection between generations, student life during the first Republic of Estonia, and traditions passed down to the present day. These topics will be highlighted in the exhibition organized by Sorority Lembela, which can be seen both in Tartu and Tallinn.
On October 24, 2024, Sorority Lembela will celebrate its first centenary. The organization was created in Tartu by 12 female students who wanted to stick together and support each other at a time when women were part of the minority in the academic world.
To celebrate, we will showcase the fascinating history of our organization in an exhibition at the 19th-century Tartu Citizen´s Home Museum and the glass gallery of Tallinn University of Technology. The exhibition covers values and traditions that have been passed down through turbulent times and are kept alive by a deep intergenerational connection.
The exhibition is going to be opened on the following dates:
Tartu: 02.05–20.06.2024 at 19th-century Tartu Citizen´s Home Museum. Regular ticket 7€, discounted ticket 5€
Tallinn: 12.09-10.11.2024 at Tallinn University of Technology library glass gallery. Free entrance.
The event is part of the additional program of Tartu 2024.
