SOFF 2024: Encouraged: Building the Future (Spain)

Sports and Olympic Film Festival SOFF 2024 is coming again! SOFF stands for the Sports and Olympic Films Festival, which is the first sports film festival in Estonia. It is initiated by the Estonian Sports and Olympic Museum located in Tartu and is taking place for the fourth time during the year when Tartu is the European Capital of Culture in 2024.

Courage Adams returns to Nigeria to build the first-ever skatepark in Lagos, giving local BMX fanatics the opportunity to push the limits of the local sports scene.

The film duration is 45 minutes. The screening will take place in cooperation with Red Bull Estonia.

After the film, there will be a discussion on the culture and opportunities of extreme sports in Estonia. The panel will feature Ardo Oks (BMX racer, multiple Estonian champion, Baltic champion, and participant in the Pump Track World Cup series), Liis Lokk (BMX rider, who placed 11th in the European Games final in 2023 and competed in Simple Session), and William Kass (BMX rider and coach, who has participated in extreme sports competitions both in Estonia and abroad). The discussion will be held in Estonian and moderated by sports museum researcher and ERR sports journalist Johannes Vedru.

All films of the Sports and Olympic Film Festival SOFF 2024 will be screened with Estonian and English subtitles at the Elektriteater in Tartu (Jakobi 1).

Accessibility Information: The festival is partially accessible for visitors with mobility impairments – the cinema hall on the 3rd floor of Elektriteater is only accessible by stairs.
