Navi Academy seminar on loneliness in society

At Navi Academy will be discussed about loneliness in contemporary society.

On January 25, 2024, at Navi Academy, you can attend lectures and participate in discussion groups.

Loneliness is a growing problem in today’s society. Several factors contribute to this, including urbanization, changes in employment, the influence of social media, and the migration of services to the internet. Through discussions, the theme of loneliness will be explored from various perspectives with the assistance of researchers and experts.

The main speakers at the seminar are Dagmar Narusson, a social innovation researcher at the University of Tartu, and Halliki Harro-Loit, a journalism professor at the University of Tartu, along with Mari-Liisa Parder, a researcher at the University of Tartu Ethics Center. The seminar will include lecture sessions alternating with discussions and workshops. Narusson will address the response to loneliness in a community context. Harro-Loit will discuss loneliness in the workplace and in organizations, and Parder will complement this with a discussion of real-life cases and possible response options.

The academy is organized by the Navi Village Association in collaboration with the University of Tartu Ethics Center as part of the Tartu World University project. Tartu World University is a part of the main program of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024.

✳ To get to Navi, you need to travel from Tartu to Võru. A suitable Lux Express bus departs at 10 from Tartu and arrives in Võru at 11:10. The bus departs from Võru back to Tartu at 17:30. From the center of Võru, near the music school, a cultural bus departs at 11:30, continuing to Navi. The bus also stops at Võru bus station around 11:35.
