Ice Age Centre birthday

The Ice Age Center will be 12 years old and Center is open on that day 11 - 20.24 o`clock. You can enter with discounted ticket, have cake and take part of free workshop in english.

The Ice Age Center will be 12 years old and it will be celebrated with a small traditional cake-eating on June 11 at 12 noon.
JJ-Street Dance School will perform and all guests can enter the Ice Age Center with a €5 discount ticket.

Several new exhibitions have recently been opened in the Ice Age Center, such as the Särtsutuba introducing green energies, an interactive exhibition introducing the life of Saadjärvi and also a recycling-themed exhibition created by school children with portraits of the famous Tart people. The Ice Age Center ferry takes you to Saadjärvi, which can hold about 20 people.
On the exterior facade of the center, you can see Marta Djourina’s artwork in pink tones, which is like many of the aforementioned Tartu 2024 European Capital of Culture projects. The work represents the fading contours of the melting polar ice, bringing the climate crisis into focus.
The Ice Age Center is also a kind of climate museum, where interactive exhibitions talk about climate change throughout history in such a way that it is interesting for both young and old viewers.

From 15-19 you can also participate in Annika Selliku’s workshop “Sustainable collection and use of medicinal plants”. The workshop is free for participants, and please let us know your wish to participate at this link https://forms.gle/FsQ4qpc9oKEwzdUR9
During the workshop, you will walk around the banks of Saadjärvi, collect plants, discuss the sustainable collection of plants, and also prepare a small meal together. Annika Sellik is an artist residing in Norway, whose work you can see at the “look into my Ice” exhibition in Tartu Kunstimaja.

As on other Thursdays this summer, the center is open in the evening hours, specifically from 11:00 a.m. to 8:24 p.m. The cozy Jääkaru Café is open, where a buffet lunch is served until 5 p.m., and in the afternoon, ice cream cocktails, coffee drinks, pies and salad are served.
