Info

The international group exhibition “Look into my Ice” is dedicated to enhance empathy and raise awareness about the impact of melting glaciers and the effect it has on Estonia. The exhibition opens on Friday, 5 July at 6 p.m. in Tartu Art House. The curator of the exhibition is Liisi Kõuhkna.

We are the last generation able to save the earth from irreversible destruction in process. We need a sense of global responsibility because we are interdependent. Scientists, philosophers and culture psychologists have given hope that humans of today are able to change their behavioural patterns for the benefit of the earth and humankind. By directing our personal desires towards the environment and cultivating the necessary global and local community, we are then able to take care of mother earth as part of our own viscera.

The transeuropean project “Look into my Ice” is part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 main programme. The project and exhibition is organised by the MTÜ Eesti-Saksa Kunstikoostöö (Association for Estonian-German cultural and art exchange) in cooperation with roam projects e.V. Berlin, Germany and is co-curated by Liisi Kõuhkna. Within its programme, 5 institutions are in cooperation on site in Tartu and Äksi, such as Tartu Art House, Science Centre AHHAA, TYPA – Printing and Paper Arts Centre, Ajuokse Avangaar and Ice Age Centre.
