A Dynamic Urban Space – Solution Laboratory Hackathon for Youth (13+)

Solution Laboratory invites active and creative Tartu youth aged 13-18 to participate in the hackathon "A Dynamic Urban Space".

From August 14th to 16th, we’ll host a unique design sprint each day, focusing on what a youth-friendly urban environment could look like. This is your chance to make your ideas and opinions heard and contribute to the future of Tartu.

The design process we use has been thoroughly tested and proven successful in introducing global education and addressing global challenges through creative projects in various Estonian schools. Each day will feature a new theme and a new group of young participants, so if you can’t join us for all three days, you can still participate on the day that suits you best!

Why should you participate?
It’s crucial that young people have a voice in shaping urban spaces – after all, you’re the ones who will be using them the most in the future. Your idea could be the one that makes Tartu a more youth-friendly and vibrant place!

📍 The sprints will take place next to Shaté, in the parking lot of Atlantis, inside a grey container. If possible, please arrive using environmentally friendly transportation (walking, biking, public transit, or carpooling).

🕒 August 14th-16th, every day from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
We recommend arriving at least 5 minutes early so we can start on time. You can also participate on just one of the days.
After each day’s sprint, our mobile workshop will be open to all participants for two hours, allowing you to continue developing and crafting your projects.

Each day includes a 30-minute lunch break, but unfortunately, we do not provide meals. We recommend bringing your own water bottle and lunch. There is a free water refill station on site. You can also buy a plant-based or meat lunch at Green Room Café for €6.10.

Spots are limited (30 participants per day), so please register early. If you cannot attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your spot to someone else.

The Solutions Lab’s design sprints are part of the Tartu 2024 European Capital of Culture program and the extended public program of the Tartu Art Museum exhibition “The Mystery of the Leaning House.”

Additionally, design sprints will be held on August 7th-9th and August 21st-23rd.
