Marika Goldman Leads the European Capital of Culture’s Marketing Division
Marika Goldman is the new Marketing Manager of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024. The marketing expert with a background in culture management and experiences with Estonia’s country brand building projects, considers it important to develop partnerships and sponsorship opportunities and enhance visibility of the Tartu 2024 brand in Estonia and Europe.
According to Goldman, she was inspired to apply for the position due to its large scale. “When the Marketing Manager’s competition opened, the scale and importance of this project scared me a little. Still, I strongly felt that I wanted to be associated with the European Capital of Culture. You could say that I experienced serious FOMO (fear of missing out) – although there is a lot of work and it involves many challenges, the fear of losing out on something great won and I applied,” said Goldman.
Goldman’s previous colleague at the Sales Support Division of Enterprise Estonia’s Estonian Investment Agency, Kata Varblane, highlights Marika’s professionalism and adaptability: “Marika has a very broad horizon and extensive experience in organising international events. Strategic marketing thinking and, as an experienced Tartu resident, a good instinct on local issues, form a great combination that, under Marika’s leadership, will raise the visibility of the European Capital of Culture, so that everyone can be proud of it.”
Marika Goldman’s duties will be diverse, ranging from visual identity to sponsorship. She will lead the development and sale of Tartu 2024 merchandise and the preparation of Tartu as a European Capital of Culture tourist destination in cooperation with partners and local businesses.
