European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Estonia’s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest on May 18th at 21.30 with a grand concert performance titled “Suudlev Tartu” (Kissing Tartu), culminating in a public kiss on Tartu Town Hall Square.

Thousands of kissers are expected to attend the free concert performance. “Those who are willing to participate in a symbolic moment of love at a designated time are encouraged to get a 0-euro ticket through Piletikeskus, which also ensures the best spot for the concert,” says Marili Vihmann, Head of Marketing and Communications at Tartu 2024.

Vihmann adds that the kiss shared in public can be a romantic kiss, a kiss on the cheek to a friend, a hug, or a parent kissing a child on the cheek. “The moment of love shared among people living in Estonia is dedicated to sexual awareness, which is one of the themes of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024,” says Marili, Head of Marketing and Communications at Tartu 2024.

The concert performance will showcase 20 Eurovision singers cherished by Estonians, among them the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest winner, Conchita Wurst. The one-of-a-kind event will take place exactly a week after the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö has been announced. The organisers expect thousands of kissers to participate in the public kiss.
