This year, Pride celebrates the 20th anniversary of Estonia's first pride parade, as well as the adoption of marriage equality. In the festive parade, thousands of participants with rainbow flags marched through Tartu.

“Today we celebrated significant changes important to the community— the adoption of the marriage equality— and we do it with the best people. Kindness always wins!” says Keio Soomre, project manager of Tartu 2024 Pride.

The European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 values diversity, tolerance, and equality. “Estonian is only as strong as are the people, communities, and cultural creators,” says Kati Torp, the Creative Director of Tartu 2024. ‘It is very important that in the year of European Capital of Culture, we tell the stories of different people and communities of Tartu and South Estonia, and we try to find the common ground between cultures, fields, and generations.”

The parade was followed by the Tartu 2024 Pride Open-Air Concert at Tartu Town Hall Square, featuring performances by Vikerlased, Kaisa Ling Thing, su/mi, Andreas, Dykeonaut, and others. The concert includes sign language interpretation. The concert is broadcast live by Telia. Watch the broadcast on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/S4V1yNT8voxyG895/
