European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 Seeks Ideas for the Southern Estonian Application Round until 1 October
European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 with Southern Estonian municipalities awaits ideas from all cultural managers, entrepreneurs and creatives for the Tartu 2024 Southern Estonian application round. The regional project application round seeks events that will take place in Southern Estonia, every European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 municipality, during the title year.

Tartu 2024 Southern Estonian Coordinator Annela Laaneots explained: “Dare to dream big and shape the face of the European Capital of Culture in Southern Estonia with your event. Everyone, who has an idea suitable for the European Capital of Culture programme and a plan to carry out said event, can submit their application into the regional project application round. The idea submitters are welcome to open their project through the values of the Tartu 2024 artistic concept Arts of Survival.”
The regional project application round looks for large projects rather than many small ones. If the event takes place on the territory of one municipality then the co-financing rate is 30%, if on the territories of multiple municipalities then the rate is 10%. After the successful completion of the application round, a production contract will be signed with the event organisers. The last stage of the process is implementing the European Capital of Culture, or preparing the event and carrying it out in cooperation with the Tartu 2024 team.
Idea proposals for the regional project application round are expected in the SPOKU application site by 1 October, after which the regional expert commission will give them feedback. The site for sending finalised applications based on the ideal proposals will open on 1 January 2022.
