“This summer we have seen artists from Latvia, Finland and Norway on Car-Free Avenue and now we are adding Austria and the Czech Republic to the list – Tartu really is the European Capital of Culture,” says Kuldar Leis, CEO of Tartu 2024. “Car-Free Avenue has been a place of many encounters this summer – come and let’s hit a record-breaking crowd on the final weekend!”

“The performance of The Unused Word in Tartu is one of many examples of international and intercultural cooperation between European Capitals of Culture,” says Barbara Eigner, Head of International Relations at Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024. “We are delighted that a piece of the Salzkammergut region is coming to Tartu. Enjoy the concert!”

On Thursday 8 August, Austrian singer-songwriter Anna Schauberger will take to the stage in a solo concert, performing both songs from The Unused Word and tracks from the band’s Nødstop album. Her work includes electronic music and slow-paced pieces. After Schauber, Estonian artist Florian Wahl will take to the stage, his work straddling the boundaries between reality and fantasy while being hysterically soothing. He will perform new songs and material from his acclaimed albums “Katarsis garanteeritud” and “Intellikõnts”.

On 9–10 August, the Tartu Food and Wine Festival will take place on the Car-Free Avenue. On 9 August, the Czech rhythmic improvisation duo Endru & JeN Hovorka will perform, whose cross-genre work is influenced by hip-hop, neo-soul, Latin, jazz, house and world music rhythms. Among Estonian artists, singer-songwriter-producer ELLIP will perform. On 10 August, Estonians’ favourite artists Stefan and nublu will take to the stage with the repertoire of the “r2imerahva” album, which includes their songs with a new sound.

On the evening of 10 August, the three summer events – Autovabaduse Puiestee, Tartuff, and Tartu Food and Wine Festival – will be followed by a joint after-party at the legendary Atlantis and Restaurant Kaunas by the Emajõgi River. Gameboy Tetris (live), Rulers Of The Deep, Paul Oja, DJ Quest, ELLIP(dj), Kepler & Tiit Sei and JoJo will perform on three stages. The event is with a ticket.
