Info
If you are interested in how to use natural materials in your garden, come and see how to make different plant supports using willow weaving. You will get some basic skills that you can further apply yourself.
Many food plants grow tall and need support. One way is to weave different structures from willow to support the plants.
During a small garden tour we can see, how Emajõe Garden’s willow border edging and willow hut have stood the test of time.
We will do some practical willow weaving for Emajõe Garden.
Workshop and working bee guides are Gloria Niin and Jaana Ahlberg, gardening enthusiasts with a landscape architecture background.
Event is part of the community gardening programme of “Growing with Your Food” project. The project is part of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 main programme.
“Growing with Your Food” project is lead by Research Centre of Organic Farming of Estonian University of Life Sciences, Estonian Green School initiative and Tartu Nature House, partnered by European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024.
