Conversation date “How do we inherit Viljandi?”

With the beginning of the heritage year, a three-part series of conversation dates introducing heritage themes takes place, with the first introductory meeting being "What is heritage?".

On April 3rd at 5 p.m. in the Viljandi City Library City Gallery, Elo-Hanna Seljamaa will introduce the concept of heritage and our cultural heritage, followed by a discussion panel led by Sakala journalist Margus Haav.

Elo-Hanna Seljamaa is an associate professor of Estonian and Comparative Folklore, program director of Folklore and Heritage Applications, whose interests focus on inclusion, exclusion, and intervention through heritage creation and organization. As a folklorist, she is fascinated by traditions that do not fit solely within the definition of intangible cultural heritage derived from UNESCO.

The series of events is produced by the Heritage City of Viljandi in collaboration with the Heritage Festival and the Ethics Center project of the University of Tartu called Tartu World University, which is part of the main program of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024.
