Involving middle aged and older people to ensure cross-generational connections is one of the objectives of the European Capital of Culture. Project Tartu Men's Shed focuses on middle aged and older men.
This project participates in the first Tartu 2024 culture and education programme development process, as a part of "Tartu with Humanity" programme line. Projects that successfully complete the process will advance to the official European Capital of Culture programme.

Constructing a positive image of ageing creates a sense of security in young people that it is nice to grow old in Tartu and South Estonia. Tartu men's shed wishes to draw attention to the ageing population, loneliness, men's health and lack of opportunities to participate in the society. As a solution, men will be included, empowered and activated through activities that speak to them.
