Tartu 2024 to Open Popular Tartu Love Film Festival
The opening of the 14th Tartu Love Film Festival tARTuFF will be as special as usual. This time, a Tartu 2024 synthesis of a film collage and live dancing is expected to pay hommage to the cinematographic charm of Southern Estonia.
"This collage of Southern Estonian scenes decorated with a dance performance will bring together the nostalgia of Estonian film, immortal lines and love, of course," says festival director Agnes Joyet. "For the first time in 14 years I feel I'd rather be one of the thousands in the audience and let this Southern Estonian love story take me on a journey."
Tartu 2024's Head Project Manager Erni Kask emphasises Tartu's and Southern Estonia's joint bid for the European Capital of Culture title. "Our artistic programme carries the idea of "Arts of Survival" and one of those arts is undoubtedly the art of loving. As the love of peers, the environment, and one's self is irreplaceable for surviving, so is tARTuff irreplaceable in a Summer in Tartu," he notes.
The opening will take place on Monday, 12 August at 21.45 at Town Hall square and will be followed by Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo and Juliet". All of the screenings during the
