Tartu 2024 Takes a Closer Look at Hospitality in Southern Estonia
The Kultuurikompass forum "How welcoming is Southern Estonia?" will take place in Mooste Folk House on September 20 from 13:00 to 16:00. The event shares the best local hospitality practices and takes an honest look at the challenges that need to be addressed.
Head organiser of the event, Angela Ader, explains: “Tartu and Southern Estonia will be the European Capital of Culture in one and a half years. There is still time to get ready. Local event organisers and community centre managers will soon see a surge in foreign visitors. On this occasion, we also invite tourism entrepreneurs to participate in the Kultuurikompass, with whom we can make the most of Southern Estonia in 2024 and provide our guests with unforgettable experiences and memories “.
The forum is divided into two thematic sections:
I: How to attract a tourist to South Estonia?
People travel to experience culture. At the forum, we will discuss how Southern Estonia can attract visitors through cultural tourism. We share solutions for boosting cultural tourism that have worked both locally and internationally. We will discuss how cultural networks and entrepreneurs can work together to advance cultural tourism and hospitality, and how this can be improved through cross-sectoral collaboration.
II: How welcoming is Southern Estonia?
Cultural organisations and creators have various opportunities to create memorable visitor experiences, increase satisfaction, and make their activities more appealing. We will analyse hospitality and service culture practises and map out development needs at the forum. Everyone must be prepared for the arrival of both foreign and domestic tourists in 2024.
The forum will include presentations from: Kertu Vuks, the project manager of the South-Estonian Tourism Cluster, Anneli Lepp, the tourism marketing manager of the EAS and KredEx joint organisation, Marika Goldman, the Tartu 2024 marketing manager, Kuldar Leis, the Tartu 2024 CEO, and Lenna Kuurmaa and Lauri Mäesepp of the Ilmaveere event and accommodation centre. More speakers will be announced soon.
The Kultuurikompass forum is organised according to the Guidelines for Organising Environmentally Friendly Events prepared by Tartu 2024, OÜ Acento and Tartu City Government.
