Info

Finno-Ugric Days will bring to Estonia the concert "Forgotten Peoples" by Chœur de l’Orchestre de Paris. The thematic days focus on our kindred peoples who have undeservedly fallen into oblivion during political conflicts.

The two-day event dedicated to the creativity and heritage of Finno-Ugric indigenous peoples will bring a diverse cultural programme to the Estonian National Museum on 14-15 June. The schedule includes an academic conference organized by the Fenno-Ugria Society and the well-regarded tradition of FUFF (Finno-Ugric Film Festival), which also features exciting thematic workshops. The culmination takes place on 15 June starting at 8 PM, when Chœur de l’Orchestre de Paris takes the stage in ERM to perform the concert “Forgotten Peoples” conducted by Ingrid Mänd, featuring music by Veljo Tormis.

The artistic concept of European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024, Arts of Survival, was created with the aim of sharing knowledge, values, and skills that would help us lead more meaningful lives in the future. It is essential to maintain and revitalize the ties with our kindred peoples, who, due to historical circumstances, have not had the opportunity to enjoy lasting statehood. The event will appeal to all culture enthusiasts who value cultural heritage and choral music. The Finno-Ugric Days show that the future does not have to be hopeless. Together, we gather strength from our ancient roots, share cinematic and intellectual experiences, and let Tormis’s music take the spirit on a journey.
