To celebrate the year as the European Capital of Culture, Car-Free Avenue's program is taking on an international dimension. On July 25, Norwegian jazz artist Liv Andrea Hauge Trio will perform on the avenue's stage. Despite their short career, they have received numerous accolades. Come and enjoy a pleasant summer evening with jazz!

In this vibrant new jazz trio, pianist and composer Liv Andrea Hauge collaborates with Georgia Wartel Collins on bass and August Glännestrand on drums. Their music embodies an innovative approach within the classic piano trio format. Hauge’s compositions prioritize groove, simple yet melodious tunes, and spontaneous interplay among the musicians. Each piece offers ample room for improvisation, with the music unfolding dynamically in response to the energy shared between performers and audience. Drawing from the rich tapestry of modern piano jazz, the trio’s sound is deeply influenced by luminaries such as the Paul Bley Trio, Maria Kannegaard Trio, Moskus, and Kit Downs.

Since their debut in the summer of 2022, the trio has embarked on an exciting journey, releasing two albums, touring extensively across Norway and Europe, and earning prestigious accolades, including selection for Jazzahead 2024 and the esteemed Zenith Award of 2024. Their debut album, “Live from St. Hanshaugen,” launched in October 2022, received glowing praise from Norwegian critics, among them Audun Vinger, who wrote that “it sounds brilliant” with “melodic, robust compositions” (Jazznytt, 07/10/2022). Their second release, “Ville Blomster,” debuted in February 2024 on the esteemed, Norwegian label Hubro/Grappa. This album garnered widespread acclaim, with the French magazine Qobuz recognizing the trio as one of the “10 jazz artists to follow in 2024.”
