Info

The Human Library is a format whose name nicely encapsulates its content. Just like in a classical library, you can gain new knowledge here, by choosing a book that interests you. However, the difference lies in the fact that, in this format as well as in our "library," the books are real people who tell their own stories.

On April 13th, the books are five improvisers, ready to talk about the connection between mental health and improv.

Topics include:

Inner critic (EST)
Communication skills (EST)
Performance anxiety (EST)
Letting go (EST)
Acceptance of Neurodiversity (ENG)

How does our “Human Library” work?

All interested are welcome, and upon arrival, you can choose the most interesting “book” for you. Once groups of interested individuals are formed, a suitable common space is found where the “book” tells its story, and a discussion ensues based on the questions of the participants. The reader plays an active role – the book responds and opens up, talking about the challenges of mental health and its connections with improv.

However, we kindly ask you to be on time, so as not to waste valuable time on waiting and organizing!

Although this part of the day is free, we kindly ask you to register here: https://forms.gle/u59caE7o3WfVGuQj8 so we can account for your arrival!

The project Stand Up For Your Mind is part of the main program of the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024.

This project is implemented in cooperation with the British Council in Estonia to support social cohesion through the People To People Cultural Engagement program. For more information on the work of the British Council in Estonia, visit: www.britishcouncil.ee

Additionally, the evening’s realization is supported by the project: “Community Support Activities for Mental Health in South Estonia,” which is carried out with the support of the Active Citizens Fund, facilitated by the Open Estonia Foundation in cooperation with the Network of Estonian Nonprofit Organizations.
