Come and join in the discussion evenings that are part of the production process of The Bacchae.
As we prepare for the May performances of Liisbeth Horn and Elina Masing’s production of The Bacchae, which is not just a literal interpretation of Greek tragedy but a bold exploration of its contemporary relevance, we invite you to participate in the creative process. Take part in a series of public conversations curated in collaboration with the Tartu 3D Congregation and young performing artists from the University of Tartu Viljandi Academy of Culture. To explore the central themes that emerge from ancient Greek tragedy, we welcome you to the Aparaaditehas’s club Gutenberg.
There will be four FREE discussion sessions:
10th FEBRUARY: faith and rationality (Club Gutenberg)
16th MARCH – faith and escapism (Tartu New Theatre)
6th APRIL – faith and power (Club Gutenberg)
6th MAY – post-performance concluding discussion with the directors (Club Gutenberg)
Together we will explore the eternal and the contemporary, bringing together the perspectives of Christian youth, young artists and peers from different communities to better understand each other and bring open and constructive dialogue into the public sphere.
If for some reason you can’t make it that evening, don’t worry! All events will be recorded and shared online afterwards.
The talks will be in Estonian.
Limited access for people with reduced mobility: the Gutenberg Hall is on the 4th floor and can only be accessed by stairs.
