At the Aigu Om Japanese Food Day, we will explore Japanese food culture at Roosiku Manor with Hikari Tanaka and Boris Meldre, and we will also sculpt clay tea cups traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies. Additionally, there will be an English-language workshop on traditional Võrumaa herbal medicine and a traditional smoke sauna ceremony at the Hundiallika Center.
JAPANESE FOOD WORKSHOPS AT ROOSIKU MANOR:
13:00 Bento box is a popular Japanese portable meal where seasonal ingredients are beautifully arranged in a box. In the workshop, you will get to know more about Japanese bento culture and make a bento of your choice. The workshop is also suitable for children.
15:00 Okonomiyaki, or cabbage pancake with various delicious toppings, is one of Japan’s most popular street foods. In the workshop, you will enjoy both making and eating okonomiyaki!
17:00 Nukazuke, or rice bran fermentation, is a brilliant and simple method of fermentation originating from Japan. During the workshop, you will create a fermentation bed (Nukadoko) in which you can ferment root and leafy vegetables in the future.

14:00 Workshop: Practical workshop on traditional herbal medicine and visit to the medicinal herb garden (ENG; the workshop is also suitable for families)
18:30 Traditional smoke sauna ceremony (ENG; mixed sauna)
